Garmin has just rolled out a couple of new handheld GPS navigators
- the Dakota 10 and Dakota 20 which will feature a high-sensitivity
GPS receiver, worldwide basemap and color touchscreen display, all
crammed into a compact, waterproof device that is able to last up
to 20 hours per charge. These new Dakota devices are capable of
acquiring and maintaining satellite reception quickly despite being

Garmin launches Dakota line of handheld GPS units for the great outdoors

Garmin's already firmly entrenched in the GPS for outdoorspeople
game with its Oregon line of handhelds, and now the company's
announced a new series, the Dakotas. Two models -- the 10 and 20,
respectively -- have been launched, and are, overall, a bump up
from the Oregon line. These bad boys supposedly have a 20 hour
battery charge life, a 2.6-inch LCD (diagonally), and store up to
200 tracks. The higher-end Dakota 20 boasts a MicroSD slot, an
electronic compass, a barometric altimeter, and wireless data
transfer between compatible units. They're expected in the 3rd
quarter and will run you $299.99 for the Dakota 10 and $349.99 for
the 20. Full press release after the ...
Mio announces Moov M300 and M400

Mio is back with a couple more GPS navigation systems - the Moov
M300 and M400. The former is obviously the smaller among the two,
where it will be equipped with a 3.5" display at 320 x 240
resolution, while the larger M400 hosts a 4.3" display at a
resolution of 480 x 272. We'd strongly recommend the latter since
it comes with maps from 23 Western European countries, whereas the
M300 has only a map of France. The Mio Moov M300 and M400 will
retail for €99 and €149, respectively. Each purchase will
be equipped with speed radar locations and a year's worth of free
upgrades. Permalink: Mio ...

month, all powered by Windows Mobile, while the Linux-powered G60

in Singapore and Malaysia before August is over. Folks living in
Europe will have to wait until 2H 2009, with no mention about us
poor folk...
Apple announces 2TB Time Capsule

Apple has upped the ante for its Time Capsule by doubling the
storage size to 2TB, compared to the previous model which maxed out
at half that amount. The 2TB Time Capsule will sit pretty at the
top of the Apple heap for $500, while the 1TB model is going for
$300 - the previous price point of the 500GB model. Any takers?
